Photography Intern

Summary:

Rack Room Shoes is seeking a Photography intern for our in-house Studio Team. You will assist with daily studio operations and work in every stage of shoots—including prep, shoot days, and post-production—to gain experience in how we produce photos and videos for eCommerce and Marketing.

Essential Functions:

• Work alongside studio team members to prep products, capture images and video, and edit or organize files.
• Learn and operate photography hardware and software, including PhotoRobot and Capture One.
• Maintain and manage studio equipment and supplies.
• Organize, build, and break down in-studio and on-location photo and video sets.
• Create and follow lighting and set diagrams.
• Keep accurate daily shoot records.
• Maintain a neat studio, care for props, and accept deliveries.
• Utilize file management and organizational structures.
• Use Adobe Bridge, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Microsoft Office Suite for production tasks.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must be proficient in MS Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Curious and eager to learn with a portfolio demonstrating creative photography.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate in team and individual settings.
• Ability to work with both ambient and studio lighting and familiarity with light modifiers.
• Ability to demonstrate flexibility and adapt to changes under pressure.
• Familiarity with photography fundamentals, studio equipment, Adobe Creative Suite, and Capture One.

Minimum Requirements:

• Enrolled in, or graduate of, an accredited institution for photography, preferably with a commercial focus.
• Some experience in image and video post-processing.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and operations.

Physical Demands:

List physical demands of the position (e.g., Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently; involve reaching, kneeling, or climbing for set building).

Work Environment:

In-house commercial production studio and on-location environments; noise intensity level is typically moderate.
