Position Description:

Rack Room Shoes is seeking a Staff Accountant to be a part of our Accounting Team. This position will be responsible for preparing and reviewing various invoices, purchase orders and financial reports; maintaining the fixed assets general ledger; tracking store construction/remodel costs; detailed expense analysis; account reconciliations; month-end closing procedures; and collection of pertinent information for third party audits.

Core Responsibilities:

• Thorough review and processing of invoices and purchase orders
• Maintain accurate fixed asset records for financial and tax books
• Prepare journal entries
• Prepare and review various financial reports
• Follow our company’s established accounting processes
• Regularly maintain detailed reconciliations of balance sheet accounts
• Prepare ad hoc financial analyses as requested by company management
• Prepare documentation for external auditors
• Perform month-end closing procedures
• Identify areas for process streamlining, improvement & provide analysis to improve business
• Project collaboration and information support across departments

Requirements: 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required
• 1-4 years’ experience in accounting or related field
• Experience in fixed asset accounting is preferred
• Proficient in Excel
• Oracle Financials experience a plus
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize them and meet deadlines
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
• Inquisitive nature
• Sound judgement
• Ensure the confidentiality of Rack Room’s financial and proprietary information

Physical Demands:

This position is primarily sedentary. Applicants, with or without accommodations, must be able to sit for extended periods, as well as occasionally stand and walk. The role requires reaching, grasping, and possessing fine motor skills for typing. Additionally, candidates should be able to lift light objects, such as files, bend or stoop to access lower drawers, and have good near vision for computer work.
