Summary:

As a Public Relations Intern, you will join our Brand Communications team to help shape the company's narrative. You will gain hands-on experience supporting PR strategies with a focus on Social Responsibility, DEI, and internal communications. Key tasks include creating engaging content for LinkedIn and the company Intranet while learning the daily operations of a professional communications department.

Essential Functions:

  • Support the Brand Communications team in implementing the company’s PR strategy with a focus on Social Responsibility, DEI, and Internal Communications programs.
  • Create engaging content for internal and external audiences for the corporate LinkedIn page and Intranet.
  • Assist in drafting media materials, including press releases, media alerts, and story pitches.
  • Participate in planning meetings, give input on communication initiatives, and suggest ways to enhance the company’s public image.
  • Conduct research for public relations initiatives and identify visibility opportunities for various campaigns.
  • Monitor media coverage and create press clippings and reports.
  • Research PR opportunities for corporate giving programs and participate in PR outreach for corporate volunteer events.
  • Review and test DEI training courses and assist in the development of the company-wide DEI Newsletter.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Good research and analytical skills.
  •  Knowledge of copywriting and editing.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be proficient in MS Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be detail-oriented.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally.
  • Must have the ability to collaborate with a team and contribute to insights.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to look at computer monitors for 8 hours a day.
  • Must have the ability to use hands and fingers for typing and managing copiers and/or printers.
  • Must be able to exert up to at least 10 lbs. of force occasionally.
  • Use of physical motions such as reaching or fingering as required by office tasks.

Work Environment:

  • This job is performed in a traditional office environment.
  •  Includes extended periods of sitting.
