Job Title: Merchandiser
Accountability: Reports to Director of Merchandising supporting the Buying team
Rack Room Shoes is seeking a Merchandiser to join our team. The Merchandiser’s responsibilities include the allocation of merchandise to the stores as it is received at the Distribution Center, monitoring store inventories; communicating with store management concerning merchandise needs; and maintaining ideal inventory levels by way of allocations, transfers and replenishment. Merchandiser should be able to evaluate current trends and fashion to edit Store assortments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties and Responsibilities vary depending on the Department, but typically include:
- Liaising with buying teams, Store analyst, Regional and District managers, and store management.
- Track trends in consumer consumption to determine which products should be sold by store.
- Maintain stock levels; supporting current trends by store.
- Evaluate prior sales to establish future fulfillment needs by department and product class.
- Analyze incoming receipts to ensure inventory is properly allocated.
- Attend Buyer and Merchandising meetings weekly reporting on current product trends specific and conference calls monthly.
- Analyzing the previous season’s sales and report on the current season’s sales trends to buying teams.
- Analyzing and report on the departments bestselling Brands and styles on a weekly/monthly basis.

- Education/Experience: BA/BS degree; 2-3 years retail background and/or merchandising experience.
- Excellent communication skills
- Basic retail math
- Intermediate in Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint)
- Highly motivated and creative problem solver
- Team player who works effectively with others to accomplish company/department goals
- Thrive in a feedback driven environment and eager to utilize feedback and developing skills, both professionally and personally
