Rack Room Shoes is seeking a Human Resources Operations Manager to join our in-house team. This position provides expertise in the following areas:  project management, performance management, compensation administration, employee engagement programs, coaching, data maintenance and analysis, policy development and maintenance, talent, and implementation of best practices. 

 

HR Operations support to stores and field employees on applicable issues as well as provide day-to-day counsel to store managers and employees. This position is also considered the backup for the processing of the Company’s confidential payroll processed on a bi-weekly basis.  Lead on other projects as assigned.

 

 

What responsibilities does this position have?

You'll be part of the team that is partnering with department leaders to help the organization achieve its Human Resources project management and policy.  As a working manager, this role supervises a small team and provides day-to-day support for both store and Corporate Headquarters employees. 

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Works directly with corporate and store management on projects related to policy, performance management, employee engagement and coaching. 
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws, and Company policies, procedures, and regulations.  Experience in advising and coaching and best practices related to Title VII and Labor Relations
  • Experience with best practices regarding Diversity and Inclusion
  • Effectively manages, analyzes and reports on new and ongoing projects in Human Resources. 
  • Provide sound, constructive and timely consultation, coaching and training to managers, HR, the business and/or other areas on such topics as Job Eliminations, ADA, Attendance, and Leaves including but not limited to Short Term Disability, Family Medical Leave, Long Term Disability, Personal Leave, etc. in conjunction with the benefits team. This consultation may pertain to corporate policy and/or relevant state and federal laws and regulations. 
  • Help identify employment law and workplace trends (internally and externally), and may help design or provide training programs on relevant topics and/or provide guidance on other proactive steps to address topics of expertise as previously identified.
  • Collaborate with business partners across functional areas in support of interdepartmental initiatives and issues of company concern.
  • Backup to process company confidential bi-weekly payroll 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field
  • Requires 6+ years of broad HR generalist or related experience.
  • Demonstrated prior experience managing projects, with on time and on budget implementation
  • Solid understanding of current federal and state employment laws, regulations and compliance requirements.  Ability to gain and maintain current knowledge of state and local employment laws, regulations and compliance requirements for the states in which the Company operates. 
  • In-depth understanding of Retail Company policies, procedures and operations, and of the Human Resources function
  • High integrity, strong ethics, sound judgment, and the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Interpersonal and communication skills to deal effectively with all levels of employees and external contacts
  • Advanced organizational skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Experience with Mergers and Acquisitions a plus
  • Familiarity with Oracle HRIS applications a plus
