Sourcing Manager / Specialist

The Sourcing Manager supports the product development process, and oversees production of Private Brands manufactured exclusively for Rack Room Shoes, from initial concept sample, factory allocation through delivery. Partner with International Sourcing Organization on factory allocation and sample and production execution, and with Buying Teams to ensure maintenance of brand aesthetics and that merchandise meets or surpasses quality, margin and delivery targets.

This position is located in Charlotte, NC, and reports to the VP of Supply Chain.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and utilize a robust understanding of sourcing and supply chain dynamics and present opportunities to derive new commercial advantage and mitigate risk.
  • Develop and manage international supplier relationships to maintain high commercialization and production performance, meet operational goals, conduct joint process improvements, gain market intelligence, and ensure competitive pricing
  • Build and maintain close relationship with internal stakeholders such as Buying, Merchandising, International Sourcing Organization, Logistics, Finance and IT
  • Network with industry associations and experts
  • Develop sourcing strategy in coordination with the VP of Supply Chain, and execute against it
  • Support sourcing country diversification by continually review alternative sourcing countries, assess and document market characteristics and risks
  • Develop KPIs to measure, manage and improve performance across the supply chain with internal parties, suppliers, carriers and other partners involved with First Cost product
  • Coordinate efforts to survey, audit, assess and qualify new suppliers
  • Lead and/or manage sourcing and supply chain related projects like C-TPAT, Corporate Social Responsibility, Sustainable product
  • Maintain Rack Room Shoes product development calendar to align buying and sourcing teams, suppliers, and management
  • Support fast and efficient sample process
  • Provide expertise on tariffs, duties and import regulations during product development process
  • Coordinate Packaging & Labeling
  • Partner with International Sourcing and IT to introduce and develop systems to support vendor management and the product lifecycle process

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5+ years strategic sourcing experience in international sourcing of products, materials and components
  • Experience in the Footwear & Apparel Industry preferred
  • Demonstrated multi-cultural knowledge & first-hand experience in conducting business in a respectful & ethical manner in foreign countries
  • Knowledge of tariffs, duties, and import / export regulations to assure compliance and minimize costs
  • Physical and chemical product testing experience, preferably for footwear
  • Experience in multicultural negotiations, contracting and supplier management
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Product Lifecycle Management software, project & process management tools and Microsoft Office
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Engineering
  • Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams around the globe
  • Detail oriented, analytical and result focused
  • International travel required
